The REGATA DEL SOL AL SOL In 1968, Mr. José de Jesús Lima Gutierrez, Director of Social and Sports Tourism of the National Tourism Council and Commodore of the Isla Mujeres Yacht Club, decided with the approval of Commodore Jack Clark of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club , Florida, organize in 1969 the first Regatta del Sol al Sol to Isla Mujeres.  The Sol al Sol Regatta was started in 1969 from St. Petersburg, FL to Isla Mujeres. This year it would be 52 years old, a situation for which we are very proud, since neither this Regatta, nor the Regatta al Sol, which began in 1965, had stopped taking place until the world was impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. 

The Regattas have become the best example of what sport can create between the citizens of two countries.  Read more
